About artwork:

The bronze sculpture “Spotted Rooster” is a fascinating interpretation of a Slovak folk song, which depicts a warning to a young man not to interfere with a virgin’s innocence, under the threat of a tragic end. The sculptural composition depicts a virgin with a lace lily on her chest, a symbol of purity, and a rooster with a human heart, expressing the fate of their relationship. On a field of trampled lilies, a Slovak motif of lace from all over Slovakia is interwoven, which decorates the figure. The artist was able to transfer the delicacy and fragility of folk lace to bronze, thereby highlighting the contrast between the robustness of the material and the delicacy of the details. This sculpture is an artistic expression of the eternal theme of forbidden love and the inevitable fate that ccompanies it.
