Inspired by Greek mythology, the “Arachne“ statue depicts the well-known figure of Arachne - a talented weaver whose mastery was so exceptional that she challenged the goddess Athena to a weaving competition. This myth symbolizes not only the human desire for perfection and recognition, but also the consequences of pride and crossing the boundaries between mortals and gods. The bronze sculpture joins the body of a woman with delicate laces that refer to her craft and skill, as well as the webs in which her story is woven. These subtle details are a reminder of Arachne’s dedication to art and the elegance of her work. The black marble setting underlines the timeless value of this piece and adds a contrast that highlights the luster of the bronze and the finely crafted lace details. So this sculpture reminds us not only of beauty and skill, but also of the deep meaning of mythology, which, through stories like that of Arachne, reveals the fine lines between human creativity and divine authority.

Jana Brisudová

Jana Brisudová, born in Bratislava, Slovakia, is a renowned sculptor specializing in bronze work. She trained under the guidance of the esteemed Slovak master Tibor Bártfay, who helped her develop a unique style that combines mythological symbolism with modern aesthetics. In addition to sculpture, Jana is also involved in mural painting and trompe l’oeil. She is active on both the domestic and international art scenes, working from her studio in Bratislava.
