About us

The Art Palace Prague, a newly opened exhibition gallery, is located in the historic building of the former Živnostenská Bank, built at the end of the 19th century. This impressive neo-Renaissance building is an architectural gem and a testament to the rich history of Czech banking and culture. Its decoration, created by prominent Czech artists, attracts visitors from all over the world and reflects the artistic craftsmanship of the era. The history of the building dates back to 1621, when the construction of the previous palace began at the corner of Na Příkopě and Nekázanka streets.

After several reconstructions, it became the seat of the Patriotic Museum in 1845. In 1868, the Živnostenská Bank for Bohemia and Moravia was established on its site, with the goal of supporting small and medium-sized businesses. This bank quickly became a key institution in Czech banking, playing an important role in economic development.

In 1890, the bank transformed into the Land Bank, which continued the tradition of innovation and development support. Its magnificent interiors became a hub for meetings and business transactions, and remarkable works of art adorned the spaces where daily banking activities took place.
