Peter Klonowski

Peter Klonowski was born in 1960 in Traunstein, Upper Bavaria, and grew up in Rotthalmünster in Lower Bavaria. His artistic talent became evident during his studies at gymnasium in Fürstenzell. After completing his training as a carpenter, he devoted himself fully to art, which gradually became his main profession. He took part in his first group exhibition in 1981, and some of his works were sold even then. Peter Klonowski draws on his rich fantasy and imagination. He creates imaginative worlds in which reality is intertwined with ideas, dreams, and symbolic motifs. His paintings appear as open-ended stories that challenge viewers to interpret them in their own way and discover hidden meaning. In addition to paintings on canvas and wooden panels, since 1992 he has also been creating large-scale murals for private interiors, hotels and public institutions. A significant milestone in his career to date was his largest solo exhibition held in 2014 as part of the European Weeks Festival. At the Kloster Asbach museum, he presented more than seventy works of art under the title “Ars poetica”. The exhibition offered a cross-section of his work and showcased the breadth of his imaginative artistic world. He currently lives and works in Oberkappel, Austria, where he runs his own art school. Alongside his own artistic practice, he teaches and leads creative projects for children and young people.
