Jindřich Bílek - Between Bow and Brush

Art Palace Prague presents the exhibition Jindřich Bílek – Between Bow and Brush, dedicated to a prominent painter of the West Bohemian cultural scene whose work oscillates between music and painting, rhythm and colour, emotion and gesture.

The exhibition offers a selection from the artist’s oeuvre, with particular emphasis on figurative compositions that often merge with hints of abstraction, giving rise to a distinctive painterly language—rich in expression and emotionally powerful. The canvases capture musicians, singers, and dancers in moments of concentration and passion; colour unfolds into expressive patches and rhythmic structures that almost audibly resonate throughout the space.

A significant unifying element of Bílek’s paintings is the colour blue, which appears across his work in a wide range of shades—from deep tones to intensely vibrant hues—becoming a bearer of energy, atmosphere, and inner musical rhythm.
