Michêle Duchêne

Michèle Duchêne lives and works in the south of France. After completing her studies in ceramics at the School of Fine Arts in Toulouse, she joined a ceramic workshop in Madrid. She then returned to France, where she began working as a graphic designer in an advertising agency. At the same time, she continued working with clay and discovered papier-mâché, a material that captivated her with its possibilities. Michèle Duchêne found the medium that suits her best. “Working with clay required complicated logistics regarding the firing process. Paper freed me from that... Sun and wind are now the only elements I need to complete my sculptures. Here, in the sun of the south of France, I have access to a full-size kiln, and I enjoy every moment of it.”
